With large-format porcelain now standard, tiling has become its own specialism: slabs of 120×60 and above demand double-sided adhesive coverage (buttering-floating), because a hollow tile cracks under load. At EMC Decor every tile is bedded to full contact with a notched trowel, lippage is prevented with a levelling system, and joints are laser-aligned.
In wet areas, tiling always goes over waterproofing with drain slopes preserved. Grout options include stain-proof epoxy for bathrooms and kitchen splashbacks. We work demolition-included and report the substrate's screed and bonding condition at the survey.

SOLUTION: Where the tile format and installation area require it, adhesive is applied to both substrate and tile back, and coverage is checked during installation.
RISK 02: Lippage and uneven edges between adjacent tiles
SOLUTION: We lock all tiles using heavy-duty Tile Levelling Systems (TLS) guided by 3D cross-line lasers.
RISK 03: Blackening, crumbling, and water leaks through grout
SOLUTION: We apply stain-proof and completely waterproof epoxy grout in wet areas and kitchen backsplashes.

1. Substrate Prep & Waterproofing
Plastering walls to 90° right angles, laser screeding, and applying 2 coats of waterproofing.

2. Tile Laying & 45° Miter Cutting
Spreading flexible C2TE S1 tile adhesive, applying TLS levelling clips, wet 45° miter cutting.

- Levelling clips to control lippage between tiles
- Electric wet tile saw 45-degree miter cutting
3. Grouting & Final Polish
Clearing TLS clips, filling joints with epoxy or flex grout, and washing down tiles.
- Vacuuming out dust from tile joint channels
- Applying stain-proof epoxy or flexible silicone grout
- Sponging off grout haze & polishing surface

Is laying large-format 60x120 cm tiles more difficult?
Yes. Large slabs require a compatible flexible adhesive, appropriate double-buttering and levelling clips to achieve high adhesive coverage and reduce voids and breakage risk.
Do you use plastic edge trims or 45-degree miter cuts?
As standard, all outer corners are mitered at 45 degrees using a wet diamond tile saw. We do not fit cheap plastic trims.
What is the difference between epoxy grout and standard cement grout?
Epoxy grout has lower water absorption and stronger stain resistance than standard cement grout. Performance still depends on correct preparation, installation and cleaning.
